No the Savage LS650 does NOT have a fuel filter unless you add one yourself. At least my '98 does not. My book cost about the same & I find it somewhat informative but not much. It is however quite amusing with the misspelled words. I have never had a problem with the engine dying out and I live in a very humid state, North Carolina with a long warm riding season. It would seem to me that if the problem seemed to improve with the fuel position on Prime, then perhaps it is a petcock issue. Please keep us posted.
